You need to consult the Federal Customs Administration regarding the importation of your furniture, car, plants, pets, etc. When packing up your household and personal effects in your home country, you should make a list of what you are taking with you. You will later need to present this list to customs. When moving to Switzerland, your car must be declared at the border along with the rest of your household goods.
Importing a vehicle
You must declare your vehicle for customs clearance at the Swiss border yourself, without being asked to do so. |
If you have owned the vehicle: |
for more than 6 months before moving to Switzerland |
for fewer than 6 months before moving to Switzerland |
Customs implications |
You may import your vehicle with the same certificate you use for your personal effects |
If your car is deemed to be a new vehicle, you may not clear it as removal goods |
