20 years anniversary under special circumstances.
20 years of StartWeek
For exactly twenty years, the new students have been gathering every year for a week before the start of the semester to familiarise themselves with their new surroundings during the University of St.Gallen's (HSG) StartWeek. The StartWeek is integral to the HSG's Assessment Year and prepares first-year students for everyday campus life and for their new role at the university. The StartWeek 2020 is supported for the seventh time by our presenting partner "Helvetia Insurance".
Framework and protective measures
The StartWeek 2020 will go ahead despite the current Covid-19 situation. The concept of the StartWeek has been adapted to the situation imposed by coronavirus and will be continuously adjusted as required. This also applies to the comprehensive protective measures that have been implemented for this year's StartWeek. All new students are requested to check this website regularly for updates. They must also do so on the evening of Sunday, 6 September, before the Start Week 2020! Short-term changes and any other adjustments will be announced here. You can use the WiFi at the university. Please make sure that you also have a stable internet connection at home by the beginning of the StartWeek.
StartCase, InfoSessions and new surroundings
Every StartWeek is dedicated to a specific topic, which students explore with the help of a case study. This year's topic is "Artificial Intelligence". In addition to the case study, students attend various InfoSessions on the university's administrative system, teaching and learning system, IT structure and library. Information about the books and scripts for the first semester can be found here. The StartWeek also enables students to get to know each other. The relationships that are formed during this week often last throughout the time of your studies.
IMPORTANT: If you shows signs of illness shortly before or during the StartWeek, you must stay at home. We depend on your support to ensure the StartWeek goes ahead smoothly and safely. Please adhere strictly to the rules of conduct and hygiene in force on campus and follow the instructions of your tutors and the staff of the StartWeek. We can only successfully prevent infections together!
